How to Choose Your Boudoir Session Outfits

All boudoir babes want to look and feel confident during their session. The best way to  determine what lingerie will compliment you the most is to consider what you think are your best features.

Comfort is a priority. Know what sizes you wear, because the last thing you’ll want to feel is suffocated and tight. Have a professional measure you! You’ll want your top to support your bust without the gals coming out. Move around in your lingerie and see how it feels!

Think about what body parts of yours are your favorite. Also, think about which parts you want hidden. Worried about your belly region? Try on different corsets, bodysuits, a babydoll slip, t-shirts (no pants club!), a basque set, or a teddy.

If you’re really trying to show off your legs, then you’re in luck. There are various choices! Thigh-highs, stockings, heels, and long socks can accentuate those for you, no matter what type of lingerie you choose.

Here’s a few tips for choosing the perfect lingerie (or non-lingerie outfit) for your boudoir session:

Identify your body shape

Understanding your body shape is the key to selecting lingerie that not only enhances your comfort but also accentuates your confidence by highlighting your best features, ensuring a personalized and empowering fit. Here’s how to find yours:

Apple

Your top features are broader than your torso. Try lingerie that gets all eyes AWAY from your waist and center region. How about trying a babydoll or corset!

Hourglass

Curves for days! Your top and bottom are bigger than your waist. Anything form-
fitting will define those curves, such as bodysuits, hugging slips, and bra/panty combos!

Pear

Smaller top and big booty! Ruffle tops and push-up bras are great to enhance your chest. Try them with high-rise thongs to lengthen your body line.

Rectangle

A straight figure, top to bottom. G-strings and thongs will create an illusion of a
more prominent booty! Pair with a demi-cup push-up bra to add more cleavage.

Shopping for Lingerie

Clothes can be frustrating to shop for – especially when it comes to a sensual boudoir session. But, there is something out there for you. We promise!

One thing that’s suggested: Finding a lingerie boutique with real one-on-one help. The people working are experienced with different body types and know what might suit your needs.

Don’t be afraid to ask a worker, friend, or even your boudoir photographer for help when trying  to find the perfect outfit. When you shop at a boutique or storefront dedicated to lingerie, they  will help size and measure you.

Start by figuring out what look you want to go for: Dramatic, sexy, classy, pinup, bridal, or completely unclothed. Figuring out your boudoir wardrobe can be exciting! Choose your favorite colors and try on plenty of various types of lingerie.

Quick shopping tips:

  • We recommend bringing along one piece of clothing that adds a boost/life to your chest.  Anything with an underwire or extra shaping; like a pushup bra or corset.
  • Try on different textured outfits. This could be satin, lace, mesh, net, beading, etc.
  • Don’t be afraid to try out bodysuits, corsets, thigh highs, stockings, knee-high socks, teddys,  high-waisted underwear, and slips. You’d be surprised to see what flatters you the most!
  • Find two to three different types of shoes to bring to your session. Heels are a popular choice!  Even a pair of cute tennis shoes can be spunky and fun! We suggest staying away from flats and thong sandals.

Other Outfit Ideas That Aren’t Lingerie

Boudoir isn’t all about lingerie. Some people choose to wear button-downs, t-shirts, jackets, robes, or oversized sweaters paired with cute panties. Check out 7 ideas for boudoir outfits that aren’t lingerie here.

Shoes or No Shoes?

So, you’ve found your sexy lingerie and outfits. Now what? There are so many types of shoes to choose from!

The top go-to pick among women are pointy heels – and NOT open-toed ones! From there, it’s easy. Heels weren’t made to feel good. No, no. They were made to help make your booty and  legs look amazing! Choose your favorite color or one that goes along with your lingerie! Black is a color that stands out and makes a statement. If you are a little torn between colors, keep that in the back of your mind!

However, black can look a little wonky with white lingerie. It can really throw it off. Try matching with white, gold, or silver heels! Don’t let it overwhelm you. Simply color coordinate with your outfits. If you have a colorful outfit and are still unsure of what color might flow well with it, go barefoot or opt for nude-colored heels!

We want to add one major tip: If the bottoms of your heels are worn out, don’t bring them and avoid disappointment! Treat yourself and buy new ones!

Now that you’ve found the perfect outfit and shoes, it’s time to book your session!
